Little Jewford Bio
|
Little Jewford is best known as the “last surviving member” of the original band Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys. He started his performing career at the age of six when he wowed audiences across Houston with his accordion. By eight years old, he had added the piano to his act. When he was seven, he attended his first year at Echo Hill Ranch, a children’s summer camp, where he met Kinky Friedman. They began performing together for the campers – honing their craft and laying a foundation for Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys. During the first years of The Jewboys, Little Jewford was Kinky’s trusty sidekick; accordion, keyboard, clavietta and Kazoo player; and support vocalist. He survived bomb threats in New York, closed shows in Texas and California, and Indians on the warpath, with the Jewboys. But alas, Little Jewford’s days with The Jewboys were tragically cut short when – due to a clerical error – he suddenly entered the Federal Witness Protection Program. He remained in hiding under the name Jeff Shelby until he discovered that he had been mistaken for the ruthless, but little known, gangster “Little Jewfish” aka “The Belch”. Little Jewford is happy to be back on stage. In addition to his solo performances, Little Jewford has taken his place once again as trusty sidekick to Texas legend and old friend Kinky Friedman (now minus the band). Since being reunited, they’ve taken their show across the United States, Europe, and Australia. |
